All you need: you use AI and have at least the smallest ChatGPT or Claude plan. Hebby learns from everything you discuss and work out with your AI. The more you work with it, the more it knows.
But doesn't my AI already come with built-in memory?
Yes. ChatGPT and Claude remember notes about you, and agents like Claude Code or Codex read context files such as CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md at the start of every session. Hebby builds on exactly this principle: memories as text your AI understands directly. We are convinced that this is the only way a memory fits seamlessly into your AI. But Hebby takes it much further, because built-in memory has clear limits:
- Fills up fast. If you work a lot with your AI, you fill it up soon, with big projects and complex topics often after a short time. Then old memories have to make room for new ones, and much is never kept at all.
- Slows your AI down. Built-in memory is usually sent in full, whether it fits the question or not. The fuller it gets, the more of your context window it takes up, and your AI becomes dumber, slower and more expensive.
- Separate notes, no network. Who works on which project, which decision followed from what, what belongs together: built-in memory doesn't know these connections.
- Each on its own. What ChatGPT knows about you, your Codex or Claude doesn't. Every app and every agent has its own memory.
